Destiny vs. Fate

Destiny-the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.

Fate- the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed.

Many Chinese cultures strongly believe in a persons destiny. The destiny to take control of the thrown, destiny to go to battle, or the destiny to be a sacrifice.

Meanwhile, many Middle Eastern cultures belive in fate. That if fought for a certain cause, their fate will bring them to heaven with a million virgins and all that.

So tell me, how is destiny and fate different, the same, and how may one have to do with the other? Do you believe that destiny and fate are true, that a person has a path set before him as he enters the world? Or does he mark his own path? What would be more effective when it comes to living a successful virtuous life?

Do you have a destiny?...

We make our own paths, we carve out the ridges and lines upon earths vast number of possibilities. If things were already planned out for us, set neatly like a dining room table waiting for you just to sit and eat, there would be no point, no reason. The fact is, life is lived through experience, those of which you choose. To think that you can sit back and relax because your fate has already been sealed in it's absoluteness is dumbfounded. If I throw a rock into the ocean you have no idea of the size of the ripples it will create or where it will land, the same goes for humanity. The effects of our existence are always dependent on the decisions we take. The Ozone layer for example has began to break apart during the 90's, so all of those bad chemicals in spray cans were outlawed as it was found that they were the cause of it, thus years later it was able to close. Nothing, no matter how big or small, is eternal. It is not fate for someone to become who they are, it is not luck, it is the human will power that resides within every soul, every spirit. To say that your life is predetermined is to banter at the idea of constant growth. Destiny., inevitable course of events, bars that are placed around you, this is as far as you can go; no more, no less. Sorry but that's not what my life is, I choose what to believe in and I allow it power with my faith. I have faith in myself, thus I am empowered to do as I please.
