Pulling the Plug

Do you believe in having a living will? Would you sign off on a living will?

For those of you whom dont know what a "living will" pertains to, it's a statement in a person's will that states that if a person becomes incapacitated, a specified person (usually a family member) has the authority to evidentally "pull the plug" on the person, letting he or she pass away. The only reason why a person would sign a living will would be because that person doesnt want to live in a incapacitated state and would rather die. Would you rather be incapacitated and lay in a hospital, or would you rather pass along to a possible after life?

Destiny vs. Fate

Destiny-the predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.

Fate- the universal principle or ultimate agency by which the order of things is presumably prescribed.

Many Chinese cultures strongly believe in a persons destiny. The destiny to take control of the thrown, destiny to go to battle, or the destiny to be a sacrifice.

Meanwhile, many Middle Eastern cultures belive in fate. That if fought for a certain cause, their fate will bring them to heaven with a million virgins and all that.

So tell me, how is destiny and fate different, the same, and how may one have to do with the other? Do you believe that destiny and fate are true, that a person has a path set before him as he enters the world? Or does he mark his own path? What would be more effective when it comes to living a successful virtuous life?

heaven, is it real? And if so, is Hell real? How do you believe in the idea of heaven and Hell?

Do you think that a person who believes in heaven has an easier time coping with death than those whom do not believe? Why?

Final question...The idea of "predestination" was brought alive in the 1700's. The idea of predestination was that a person is born with G_d's intentions of that person already predetermined if that person was going to heaven or Hell, no matter the life he or she lives on Earth. How do you think those whom the church accused those whom were "Hell-goers" lived their life with the "knowledge" of their fiery destination in the after life?

Your "Bucket List"

Last week i watched The Bucket List for the first time. This movie starred Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The plot thickens when both are diognosed with terminally ill diseases. But thanks to Nicholson's characters wealth, they are able to live out all their dreams as young adults (Racing muscle cars, skydiving, mountain climbing, hunting in the African plains, and climbing egyptian pyramids).

The recent news caused them to finally act to achieve their life goals and hopes, hence the name, the bucket list. All things were to be done before they did in fact "kicked the bucket".

If you were to create a bucket list, what would be the top five things to finally accomplish? And why did you choose these activities? It can be anything, no matter the cost.

Parents dont know any better?

Parents claim that parenthood "didn't come with a manuel". Parents are constantly saying how their parents used to treat them, but why do they treat us the same? Theythat you constantly remind us of the unecessary and cruel hardships that their parents put them through. So why do they continue to put us through the same?

Dont get me wrong, I'm not trying to say that parenting is easy, because it isn't, but how wouldnt it make sense that since they rocognize their past problems, cant they refraim themselves from putting it on us? I doubt it's done intentionally. Parents, please understand how ironic it is how you understand your past problems, but yet you put us through the same.

Make Your Wish

The non-profit organization "Make a Wish Foundation" is an organization that raises money to give children with a terminal disease one last wish before they pass away. This organization has been established for about a decade now and has been proven extremely successfull.

Since my blog is about death... if you had one last wish to make before you die in the next six months, what would your wish be?

Here's a riddle that I'd like you to think about, there are no trick answers, and no right or wrong answers, just answers in their entirty.

You're captured at the age of 16 are temporarily placed in a room with white walls, a constant dripping faucet in a white sink, a chess board with all white pieces. You have to survive 3 months in that room until released. There are no exits other than the sealed white door in front of you. What would you do to survive?

I guess...Old people arent so bad.

After watching this psych video in Mrs. Patterson's class, I've learned that the elderly are in most cases more happier with their life than those in mid-life. I'm not sure if it's because the elderly hold their egos higher with the sight of death around the bend, or maybe they are just so freakin wise with age that they just gleam about everything! I DONT KNOW!

How could this be? How could a person hold the knowledge that the possibility of death increases everyday be happier than a person who is sure of the healthy life he or she lives? What makes old people so happy? Are you as surprised about this discovery as I am?

Stop It You Old People!

Every time i hang out with my Great Grandma and her boyfriend Dave i get depressed. Both my Great Grandmother and Dave have both lost their spouses. I can tell by the way they act and by the way looks on their faces that they are constantly thinking about their own death, as well as eachothers. I'm sorry, I know it's a really upsetting and touchy subject but I cant get over it myself.

I'm afraid that when i reach the age of 70, all I'll be able to think about is the fact that I'm going to die soon. The fact that I've lived 90 percent of my life and sometime very soon I'm going to go to sleep, and never wake up.

When I'm older i dont want to live my reaining years thinking of this, does anybody else fear this? Does anybody have any insight?

The Walking Dead

You've just left the doctor's office and received the news that in the next year you will die....

You sit there, in the parking lot, embracing the hardships of the next year. The mentallity that your life will soon come to an end. That you have roughly 365 days remaining on this Earth.

The clock is ticking for you. How does this change your mentallity of life, your mentallity of living?
